Brian D. Hunter is a third-generation pastor with over 20 years of pastoral experience. He began his preaching ministry at 19 and assumed his first pastoral assignment at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in West Oakland  (1999-2007). For the last 18 years, Hunter has served as Lead Pastor of the Berkeley Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  

Christian Education is his passion, and he has taught Christian Ethics, Homiletics, Apologetics, and Biblical Hermeneutics for five years at Sacramento Bible College and Seminary. Currently, Hunter is the New Testament professor at the Leadership Institute at Allen Temple (LIAT).  

Hunter is also a certified Church Planter Coach/Pastor Coach with Converge PacWest.  Hunter is the author of Illustrations That Connect and The Transformation Planner. 

Hunter has a Bachelor of Theology degree from Sacramento Bible College and a Master of Practical Theology from Winebrenner Seminary.  Currently, Hunter is a doctoral student at Biola University Talbot School of Theology. 

He’s married to Lori, Broom-Hunter, and together they support their four adult children.
