Rodney Friend is a seasoned pastor and musician whose ministry has spanned over three decades. He faithfully served 32 years as Senior Pastor of Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, CA. Under his leadership, the church became a beacon of hope and resilience in the Watts community. 

Rodney earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from CSU Dominguez Hills in Carson, CA. In 1986 he received a Grammy nomination in the “Best Soul Gospel Male” category for his first Gospel album entitled “Worthy”.

Rodney has obtained Master’s degrees in Biblical Studies and Theology from Colorado Christian University and is a doctoral candidate in the African American Ministry track at Talbot Theological Seminary / Biola University. He currently serves as the Executive Pastor of Operations at Friendship Baptist Church of Yorba Linda, CA. Married to Janet for 41 wonderful years. They have two adult daughters and two grandchildren.
